On the 9th of August, 1976, Kenya was born in Inglewood, California, USA. He got his first name “Kenya” after his father visited the African country also named Kenya and loved it. He attended Daniel Murphy High School and later graduated with a degree in Radio, Television, and Film at Clark Atlanta University.
Kenya had a rough childhood. His father was an abusive parent who regularly assaulted his wife, Kenya’s mother. By the time he was five (5) years old, his parents got a divorce and went their separate ways.
Kenya started working as a writer for TV shows in the late 90s but before then he was a production assistant before his longtime girlfriend then and now his wife, Rainbow got pregnant for Kaleigh (their first child) in 1998.
One of his biggest works apart from Black-ish is America’s Next Top Model which he co-produced with popular American actress and writer, Tyra Banks who is also from Inglewood, California.
